If you keep your feet firmly on the ground, you'll have trouble putting on your pants.I wasted an hour and a half of my life today. How? I decided to do one of those pages – you know where you put photos, your blog and stuff so everyone can see it. After I had wasted time getting it up and running I got an email saying my photos – my book covers – see left had all been deleted as they were pornographic. Uh huh. I cancelled my account that I had just set up as I will not be censored – simple as that. These covers are on my website and my blog. These covers are on publisher websites. And yes, you are correct – this ‘page’ place had a right to their rules. I just find it funny one set of rules apply to new account holders but not the old. I emailed politely back and told them to stick it in their ear. They sent me an email back with a generic FAQ letter in the body of the email. Well FAQ you too. Not much else to report….I spent time chatting to some online friends about books, blogs, star signs and past loves. Oh god – totally depressed myself on the last one. There is always one you never forget no matter what isn’t there? I also realized I have not eaten chocolate in a month. No wonder I am dizzy and light headed. It’s just wrong to deny yourself the stuff you love.
What else…put the washing on the line – took the washing off the line. It remains in the laundry basket until I can’t find any clean knickers and then I will eventually fold it. Yes, how glamorous life is. To fold knickers now or later – that is the question.
In the works…Just about to send off a manuscript to my stoic editor - so we’ll see if that comes good in several weeks. ‘Got my signed contract back for Lickety Split. It’s a book that will be out next year with Ellora’s Cave. It’s part of the Creamy special. What’s it about? Ice cream and sex. Need I say more? Also the vampire book I mentioned a couple of weeks ago got a contract with EC as well. What’s it about? Vampires and sex. Hmmm…I sense a common theme here…. Review…Micah Blue is a fun and totally absorbing novella that had me continually grinning throughout. Micah, unbeknownst to her, has a demon visiting her in her dreams. But she'd rather have the real thing or in this case, Ned. The demon isn't amused and determined to make Micah his. The dialogue between the characters entertained me with their banter and quick wit, making them memorable, and in the case of Micah and Ned, lovable characters. The love scenes are seriously hot and likely to singe. This is a wonderful story and one that will have me checking out other books by Amarinda Jones.

Micah Blue - review
Micah Blue of the pink hair and take no prisoners attitude is a great character. Ms. Jones has written her with a terrific sense of humor and there is humor scattered throughout the story. There are also some great sex scenes both with the demon and with Ned that are really steamy. Ned is a hot guy with a hot body and a white knight complex who is determined to have Micah for himself, demon or no demon. This couple sets the sheets on fire while discovering a deeper connection and foiling the plans of a demon. A very good paranormal read with great characters, hot sex, laughs and a happy ending.

Winning BessThe blurb…
1847 Ireland was a place of hardship and devastation, and Bess and her father wouldn't have been able to escape without Colm Devaney. But Bess' feelings for Colm go well beyond gratitude. Now they find themselves together in an immigrant neighborhood in New York City, sharing a cramped shack. And Bess wants to get even closer.Three things aid Colm's survival—a small bit of savings, his ready fists and his desperate desire to have Bess... in every way possible. Every night he spends in their close quarters, trying to force himself not to peek at her luscious body as she bathes, is pure torture. The few stolen minutes of passion they finally share are heavenly, but leave them both fraught for more. More determined than ever to win Bess and take her far from their dirty, dangerous life, Colm sets his eye on another prize—an exquisite sapphire that goes to the winner of the fiercest prizefight in Five Points.
The excerpt…
Don’t look.
Don’t peek.
Just breathe.
His body burned with lust. The rough cloth of his trousers kept his stiff cock in place. He balled up his hands so he wouldn’t fondle himself. Even in the dark corner on his sleeping pallet, he didn’t want to get caught rubbing his manhood.
“Colm Devaney, are you listening ta me?” Bess asked from her side of the room. Water splashed in a bowl.
He swallowed. Sure he was listening. Sort of. It’d be easier if Bess didn’t have her top down around her waist as she washed her breasts. Big, firm, round breasts.
Breasts meant to fill a man’s hands.
A thin blanket ran between the walls as a barrier, but with the candle burning on her side, the material offered no protection at all. Hungrily, he peeked once more as her father’s snores rattled the roof of the alleyway shack.
A hand lingered over a breast before she lifted her arm and washed her side, shoulder and arm.
When his cock twitched, he bit back a moan.
Sweat broke out on his forehead. Thankfully she’d soon be asleep, giving him the privacy he needed to bring himself to release.
His balls tightened in anticipation. He hated waiting.
“I’ve made up my mind.” She rung out the rag to wash the other arm. “I’ve got no other choice…”
“What?” He sat up, only to wince. Shifting, he managed to get his cock a little more freedom. “What other choice?”
Bess turned to face his direction. “You big lug. I knew you hadn’t been listening.” In a huff, she turned away.
Damn English dogs.
No. The English may have driven him from Ireland to America, but Colm had no one but himself to blame for this situation. Still, it was nice to blame the English.
When Bess’ father had come to him for aid, Colm couldn’t say no. He hadn’t wanted to. Truth be told, he’d thanked the Lord for the opportunity to get closer to Bess. She and her father had no other relatives, just as many other immigrants found themselves alone here.
Only he hadn’t known how hard living with Bess would be. And before bed was the worst. Her bath routine seemed to be getting longer and longer.
Bess peered at him over the blanket once more. “I’m going to take O’Boyle up on his offer. It won’t make me a fortune but it will help with the cost of Da’s medicine.” There was sad resignation in her voice.
Bile of both disgust and worry churned its way up from his stomach. The mention of the thieving O’Boyle’s name alone sickened him. In a flash, he was across the room, offering her a glare of his own. “Over my dead body.” He’d be long dead before Bess would work for that scum.
She gasped.
He took another step forward. Too close, but he didn’t care. “You’ll not work for the likes of that rat bastard.” While he and countless others had needed to come to New York, far too many of them fell prey to those uncaring like O’Boyle. The city could be far crueler than death by starvation. Neither false temptation or hunger would claim Bess.
“You’re not me father.” She lifted her chin in defiance. “I’ll be making my own decisions.”
A tremble set in. Anger and desire mingled in his blood. He wanted to have a say over her choices. At least the dangerous choices.
Damn it and damn the English.
Don’t be getting any ideas, Colm. Me daughter is too good for the likes of you. She’s meant for someone special. Not an English bastard. I thank you for your protection all the same. The dying man’s words echoed once more in his head.
Colm was no fool. Bess’ father had sought aid from him because of his height and ready fists.
Standing too close to the makeshift barrier, he blinked down over the blanket at the eyeful he’d been given—or had taken.
Big lush breasts tipped with dark rosy nipples stood straight out for his view.
“Get your eyes back in your head, Colm Devaney.” She snatched her top up. “What do you take me for?”

I heard on that radio this morning about a bar in Melbourne that is offering free drinks for women putting their knickers on the bar. What the? Click here to check it out. Oh, and if they flash their bra they can also get a free drink. My response? Tacky, tacky and bloody tacky. What women with any class or sense would do that? And no, there is no way this is even fun or cute. It’s trashy exploitation of young, probably naïve women who think free drinks are fun. It’s purely entertainment for the dumb arsed male drinkers as drunken women parade around without knickers. And it begs the question – are men going to be putting their underdaks on the bar as well? Maybe I’m old fashioned but to me gimmicks like this and wet t-shirt contests just once again reinforce the fact that as far as we have come as women we have not come far enough if some of us are willing to drop ‘em for drinks. And yeah, you could argue the toss that erotic romance writers don’t help the cause but I think we do. How? Because we give our heroines choices of who and when. It’s up to her and she’s not about to flash her knickers at just anyone – only the hero/heroes – because she is safe to and she is in control. There is empowerment and then there is exploitation. I hope women have more sense to avoid that hotel in droves…but I’m sure some won’t.
Micah Blue review…“Micah Blue” is a wonderful quick read. Amarinda Jones definitely can make your heart race through the power of her words. The story is definitely highly erotic. Even if the demon is a loser, he still shares some hot moments with Micah. All was not a waste for her in regards to him. The hero in the story is something more. I really enjoyed that he wasn’t just going to be a one-night stand, but also had character and depth. “Micah Blue” will definitely be enjoyed by fans of paranormal erotica!http://www.readerviews.com/ReviewJonesMicahBlue.htmlwww.amarindajones.comGo ahead: Live with abandon. I have a thing about demons at the moment…demons and tattoos. Tattoos are pretty obvious. While I would not get one myself, I think they look great on men. Demons – well I kinda like the whole anti-hero thing – not that the demon in Micah Blue is friendly. But in upcoming books – Penned Again and Taking the Fall the demons are the anti-hero. There’s the edginess about someone deemed bad but in reality is not. Like any one with life experience I certainly have my share of demons but I have not met one yet. Do they exist? I reckon they do. I like to think they hang out with the vamps and werewolves and look at humans and wonder what the hell we’re doing.
On my morning ramble….
…… I came across a penis on a letterbox. Yes, I was surprised because it’s not something you see everyday. I work in an industrial area. The letter boxes are sturdy bloody things used to trucks running into them. Anyway, there it was - a penis. Not something I expected to see. It wasn’t there on yesterday’s walk. I am sure I would have remembered that. Oh yes, should mention it was spray painted on – quite lifelike and impressive. So, my question to you is why? Why do people persist in drawing body parts on things as graffiti? Not like we can be shocked any more is it? What do you think the spray painter gets out of painting a penis on a letter box? Is it art? Is it a statement of the times? Is it a case of the penis representing man’s inhumanity to man in the societal, economic world of cruel reality for the working class? Or does this person know dick about anything? Thoughts?
I had a review the other day from a person who did not like Knock Three Times – which I respect – and today I got this…it’s all swings and roundabouts in the writing business. At least you’re never bored…thanks Indy and thanks Joyfully Reviewed.Truth is truth and the biggest truth of all is that I’m horribly addicted to the work of Amarinda Jones. Knock Three Times is just another addition to a project of works that make you smile and keep you chuckling all while sending the body into overdrive. I’m not sure how Ms. Jones comes up with her delightfully wicked heroines but again she’s hit the jackpot. A heroine who is a little self-conscious, with a few curves and a sex pot in the bedroom who’s not shy at all about taking the pleasure offered. Montie is the kind of woman you either love or ignore, quirky with a touch of innocence she’s still a woman to be reckoned with.
Partnering her with a kind, caring devastatingly handsome and understanding man whose sex drive surpasses her own makes for a match made in romance heaven. This story gave me a phenomenal couple, back breaking sex, a cute plot and plenty of smile inducing situations. All this and more makes it easy to Joyfully Recommend Knock Three Times for the month of September. http://www.joyfullyreviewed.com/reviews/RRs/Sep08RR/KnockThreeTimes.AJ.htmlwww.amarindajones.com/

“No”…can you say that word? More importantly can you mean it and stand by it? For some it's a hard a thing to do. No is so final, so negative, so not going to happen. I think there is a great fear or worry behind the word no – that the perception is people will not like you or consider you hard. No is not a pleasing word. No invites confrontation. I believe this simple word puts great pressure on people because to be pleasant and polite and say “yes” is a lot easier than the possible ramifications of no. People always want to know why you are saying no and who are you to tell me no?
I have never been one to worry about saying no. There are just times when it has to be said. I've been doing that a lot over the past couple of days at work. It never makes you popular but people need to know the facts and that you are not one who caves under pressure, nor are you a soft touch. At work my personal belief is I am not paid enough to say yes when I know it will cause a drama. Besides, despite my half arsed attitude, I do understand business principles – the wheeling and the dealing - I know when someone is talking shite and wanting me to agree to it for it to make it easier for them to get away with something. Not on my watch mate. Make sense and I will most likely agree with you – talk rubbish and expect a no. But then, that's not much different to normal life is it?
Saying no to family and friends can be hard. You want to help or give to them but sometimes you just can't. Sometimes you have to step away or say no, I can't help. I'm lucky, the people that I care about understand, as I do them, that yes is not always possible and if I give a no then it’s not personal. Realistically, how can it be otherwise? You have to accept you are not going to please everyone all the time. It's not possible. Real people understand this. I believe those who don’t are too caught up in what they want to consider how their selfish needs will affect who they are asking.
I don’t see no as negative. I see it as powerful word. How can something negative be powerful? I look at it this way - if you are prepared to stand tough and stick to your guns and risk the threat of someone being unhappy with you then you are a strong person who knows their own mind and will not settle for anything less than what you believe to be true. That's power.
So – no is easy for me. That’s not to say I use it all the time but I believe at this stage I have the experience to make decisions and give tough answers people don’t want to hear. If I lose friends by that then I have to wonder if they where really friends at all.
Can you say no?

“Holy crap.”
“I don’t think there’s anything holy about this, sugar,” Ned responded evenly.
“The sapphire proclaims her mine,” Mellifont announced in a voice that brooked no argument.
“What sapphire?” Micah looked down at glowing stone in her navel. “This tacky lump of glass is a sapphire?” She pulled it out and looked at it carefully.
“Looks that way.” Ned took the glowing stone from her hand. It dulled instantly. “It also looks like you have got yourself a dickheaded demon after you, sugar.”
“No way!” Great, everyone else gets guardian angels but I get a fucking demon. Typical.
“Leave us now or die mortal.” Mellifont aimed the fireball at Ned.
“Mortal?” Micah looked from one man to the other.
“I don’t think so, Sonny Jim.” Ned stood his ground.
“This will not bode well for you. Your death will be painful.”
“All this over sex?” Micah was amazed. She hadn’t had sex in months and now she had two men, one who appeared to be a demon, wanting her body. She was both smugly pleased and horrified.
“No, it’s not a jealousy thing, sugar.” Ned held the jewel out to her. “It’s about this.”
“A lump of glass?” Micah was a little annoyed Ned had deflated her ego as he had.
“It’s a sapphire, my dear. Only the chosen can make it glow.” Mellifont looked at her with possession in his eyes.

Ramblations – to ramble on about nothing much – source Amarinda Jones Word Dictionary. The boxing kangaroo is a national personification of Australia, frequently seen in popular culture.
The image of the boxing kangaroo Jack is known since 1891. Fifty years later it became a national symbol in the Royal Australian Air Force. The design was inspired by a travelling boxing show which had kangaroos boxing with men. During 1941 boxing kangaroos were stencilled on Australian fighter aeroplanes of the No. 21 Squadron RAAF based in Singapore and Malaya.
The boxing kangaroo was the symbol for the successful 1983 Australian challenge for the America's Cup. The Boxing Kangaroo flag, a red-gloved golden kangaroo on a green background, was flown from Australia II.

The tax man cometh…
I hauled myself off to have my Tax done. End of financial year, for those who don’t know, in Australia is June 30. Tax has to be done before October 31 normally. I say normally as I am sure there are all sorts of loopholes. Generally, if you have to pay something to the tax vultures because you had the initiative to get off you arse and earn extra money, then you usually have until March next year. I never pay them before that. Stuff ‘em. Anyway, I went and saw – let’s call her Elvira – and she did my tax. I can do it myself but it would take a whole exhausting day of me swearing and slapping my head as I do the calculations whereas Elvira can do them in 20 minutes. I say 20 minutes but I am usually there for an hour or so because she likes to chat. So it’s kind of a social call. Last year, I mentioned on the blog there was great drama in Elvira’s work place due to someone being accused of taking someone else’s pen. I can only hope it is as exciting this time.
Ever noticed how someone can lose the plot if they think their cheap, plastic, looks-like-every-other-pen-in-the-office has been nicked? I used to set next to this woman who used to label all her cheap, plastic pens with her name. Here’s my take on it – someone nicks a 30 cents pen – ok – go to the stationary cupboard and get a new 30 cent pen. What’s the point roaming around the office checking to see if someone has your labeled pen then confronting them with theft? Oh sure, it’s entertaining for your colleagues but frigging insane.
Update - with Elvira, bless her cotton socks, for an hour and a half chatting about nothing in partucualr. Tax done. No accusations of pen theft this time. So it’s a short but sweet blog tonight…heading out in 45 minutes…just enough time to do a blog run. Have a good one.A Micah Blue moment – released 3rd September 2008
“Gang way!” Micah yelled as she charged down the steps toward Ned. She was dressed only in a pale pink lace bra and satin slip. “Ugly, pissed off man behind me!” She yelped as she dodged a blue fireball and ran straight into Ned’s arms. Her ankle was killing her but the pain of whatever this man planned to do with her trumped that. She pulled at Ned to make him move. “No time for heroics, Zorro. This guy is not a happy boy.”
Ned picked her up in his arms and raced with her to the truck, narrowly avoiding a bolt of blue from hitting them.
“What are you sapphire-girl woman or something?” Ned opened the truck and pushed her inside.
“‘Looks that way,” Micah scooted across the seat to allow Ned to hurriedly slide in beside her.

Black Opal, Third in the Amulets Series by Sandra Cox
They raced down the mountain at a perilous pace. The trees whizzed by as they traveled a narrow two lane road. A noise like a distant train grew, gaining in volume, grating against Sabina’s nerves like chalk on a board. What was it?
She looked to her left and saw it. “Oh my gods. Hit the brakes, Adam!”
But he’d already seen the rocks and boulders tumbling down on the road ahead. His brakes screamed and the hot smell of burning rubber filled the car.
After that everything happened in slow motion. She raised her arm to stop the large boulder heading at a runaway pace directly toward the car. She could hardly see for the small pebbles and dirt. With a wild wave of her arm, she halted stones in mid fall. Sabina stumbled out of the car so she could see to aim the amulet. Boulders and rocks were everywhere.
“Sabina,” Adam called jumping out of the car and racing toward her.
She saw a rock the size of an aerobic-abs ball hurling toward him and shot her arm out. It splintered in a thousand pieces.
“Merda!” Another hurtled straight toward her. She made no move to save herself. Her arm trembling, she held it straight out in Adam’s direction to cover him from the falling rocks as he raced toward her, his feet slipping in the gravel. In that moment, she knew she loved him.
Pain engulfed her as the large rocks pummeled her. Above the roar of the rockslide she heard the agony in his voice as he called her name. He does love me was her last conscious thought.
Akasha - The Cats of Catarau - by Sandra CoxAkasha cleared her throat and straightened. Though Ramses was kind, the great Council Cat wore authority like a cloak clothing a king. He intimidated her just a bit. “Where is Cairo?” she asked.
His whiskers twitched and compassion shone out of his ageless amber eyes. “She is still mortal.”
Akasha took a step toward him. “How do you know?” Her green eyes stared into his gold ones. Fear for her child overcame her intimidation of the great cat. When he did not respond, she asked again, “How do you know?”
He looked at her, assessing.
She returned his look without blinking, waiting.
With a sigh, he swept out his paw. As one, the council turned their heads to look into the mist. Akasha stared through the clouds below to see her poor baby-sitting on a tackle box under the seat, the water inside the boat rising. “Mamma, Mamma, Mamma,” Cairo called.
For one brief moment Akasha thought she would die all over again. She could feel her heart pound against her breast and that surprised her. There was so much pain in it. Surely, it had shattered into tiny pieces too small to beat. Resolute, she shoved back the grievous ache. She had no time for it. Her baby needed her. Somehow she must get to her kit.
Forcing herself to breathe, she pushed the words out of her throat. “How do I get back?”
“You don’t,” Ramses said, his tone gentle. He sat down and wrapped his tail around his body.
Several of the other cats did the same.
Akasha tucked in her chin and swished her tail, her expression stubborn, fighting the ache in her chest. “Shardai went back. More than once, if legend is correct.”
“Shardai received special dispensation.”
She notched up her chin and spoke like a queen. “Then so shall I.”
Her pulse pounded in her paws as he stared down at her but she refused to be intimidated.
Finally he asked, “How can you hope to save her? She’s in a boat, in the middle of a raging storm.”
Past all reason, she ran to him and beat her paws against his chest. “Listen to her,” she cried. “And don’t tell me I can’t go back.”
“Mamma. Mamma. Mamma. Where are you?” The poor pitiful sound carried through the winds of earth and rushed to Catarau.
She could see indecision flicker in the great cat’s eyes.
He pointed with his chin at Cubbie and Cosmo. “What about these little ones?”
They stared at her, wide-eyed. “You aren’t going to leave us are you, Mamma?”
Her chest tightened. Great Bast. It was so hard. She didn’t want to be separated from her babies.
